Thick rice flakes-2 cups
Tamarind-1 lemon sized
Jaggery- equal to lemon
Salt to taste
Oil-4 table spoons
Bengal gram dhal-1 table spoon
Black gram dhal-1 table spoon
Sambar powder-2 table spoon
Method: Cut onions and tomatoes into 1 inch length. In a vessel take oil add mustard seeds to it when they splutter add Bengal gram dhal and black gram dhal when they fry a little add the onions cook till soft and then add tomatoes when cook for 2 minutes add sambar powder, squeeze tamarind, lemon,salt and 2 1/4 cups of water when the starts boiling add the rice flakes and mix them well cook till it absorbs all the water and turns like upma serve hot with coriander and fresh scrapped coconut on the top.
