Rice flakes-2 cups
Green chilies-5-6
Salt to taste
Oil-5table spoon
Bengal gram dhal-1 table spoon
Black gram dhal- 1 table spoon
Fresh coconut-little
Curry and coriander leaves
turmeric-1 tea spoon
Method: Cut onions in to square shape. Run green chilies,coconut and salt in mixie. Wash the rice flakes soak for 2 minutes and drain all the water. In a broad vessel take oil add mustard seeds to it when they splutter add Bengal gram dhal  and black gram dhal fry till light brown and add onions to it when they turn soft add the green chili paste,turmeric,fry for while add the washed rice flakes and heat it well by mixing squeeze lemon and serve hot with coriander and coconut on the top.
                  Rice flakes of medium thickness are suitable for this upma.
                  Variation: You can use tomatoes,potatoes,cucumber in the seasonings for variations in the taste; even some ground nuts can be added with dhal’s.
